Study: Pain Medications are Mostly Ineffective against Shingles; CBCD Highlights Two Natural Remedies against the Varicella Zoster Virus (VZV)

Study: Pain Medications are Mostly Ineffective against Shingles; CBCD Highlights Two Natural Remedies against the Varicella Zoster Virus (VZV)

Rochester, NY (PRWEB) August 11, 2014

“Infected with the Varicella Zoster Virus (VZV)? The CBCD recommends taking Novirin or Gene-Eden-VIR.” – Greg Bennett, CBCD

Patients who develop shingles experience neuropathic pain. Dr. Casale and colleagues defined this pain as “arising as a direct consequence of a lesion or a disease affecting the somatosensory system.” (1) Dr. Casale is from the Department of Clinical Neurophysiology and Pain Rehabilitation Unit, Foundation Salvatore Maugeri, in Pavia, Italy. This pain can considerably affect quality of life for patients. (1) Neuropathic pain is also called post-herpetic neuralgia (PHN), and it is the most common symptom of herpes zoster (shingles). (See Patient.co.uk, last checked February 5, 2013) (2) Despite the fact that up to 5% of the population develops PHN, “treatment of neuropathic pain continues to be challenging due to the inadequate effectiveness of systemic therapies and their frequent central side effects.” (1) In other words, pain medications that work on the whole body, are largely ineffective against PHN. The CBCD believes this is why people need a remedy that targets the latent Varicella Zoster Virus (VZV) that causes Shingles.

“Herpes zoster (HZ), commonly called shingles, is a distinctive syndrome caused by reactivation of varicella zoster virus (VZV). This reactivation happens whenever immunity to VZV declines as a result of aging or immunosuppression (a damaged immune system). Herpes zoster will happen at any age yet commonly affects the elderly population. Postherpetic neuralgia (PHN), defined as pain persisting over 3 months.” (See Mayo Clinic Proceedings, from March 2009) (3) The CBCD points out that when the immune system is damaged, a latent virus, such as VZV, can increase in number, causing shingles and post-herpetic neuralgia.

The CDC notes that “Nearly 1 out of every 3 people in the United States will develop shingles in their lifetime. Anyone who has had chickenpox or received chickenpox vaccine in the past may develop shingles.” (See CDC, last updated May 1, 2014) (4)

The CBCD recommends that people who have had chickenpox in the past take Novirin or Gene-Eden-VIR. The formula of these natural antiviral products was tested by Hanan Polansky and Edan Itzkovitz from the CBCD in two clinical studies that followed FDA guidelines. The studies showed that the Gene-Eden-VIR and Novirin formula is effective against herpes viruses (like VZV), and other viruses. The clinical studies were published in the peer reviewed, medical journal Pharmacology & Pharmacy, the first, in a special edition on Advances in Antiviral Drugs. Study authors wrote that, “individuals infected with a (latent virus) … reported a safe decrease in their symptoms following treatment with Gene-Eden-VIR.” (5) The study authors also wrote that, “we observed a statistically significant decrease in the severity, duration, and frequency of symptoms.” (5)

Both products can be ordered online on the Novirin and Gene-Eden-VIR websites.

Novirin and Gene-Eden-VIR are natural antiviral dietary supplements. Their formula contains five natural ingredients: Selenium, Camellia Sinesis Extract, Quercetin, Cinnamomum Extract, and Licorice Extract. The first ingredient is a trace element, and the other four are plant extracts. Each ingredient and its dose was chosen through a scientific approach. Scientists at polyDNA, the company that invented and patented the formula, scanned thousands of scientific and medical papers published in various medical and scientific journals, and identified the safest and most effective natural ingredients against latent viruses. To date, Novirin and Gene-Eden-VIR are the only natural antiviral products on the market with published clinical studies that support their claims.

How long does Shingles pain last?

“In most cases, the rash and pain (of Shingles) lasts two to four weeks, but up to one person in five develops postherpetic neuralgia. The pain can be intense and has been described as a burning or stabbing sensation, in some cases feeling like an electric shock. Many people with postherpetic neuralgia make a full recovery within a year, but in some cases the nerves do not heal completely and symptoms last for several years or permanently.” (See Neurology, from July, 2014) (6) Moreover, while most people respond to medications, including tricyclic antidepressants, anti-epileptic drugs or opioids to reduce the pain, 40 to 50 per cent only partially respond. (6) This is why people need a remedy that targets the latent virus that causes Shingles.

“The CBCD recommends that people infected with a latent virus like VZV take Novirin or Gene-Eden-VIR. The formula of these all-natural antivirals was designed to help the immune system target the latent virus.” – Greg Bennett, CBCD

Study: Latent EBV Infects Immune Cells in MS; polyDNA Recommends Gene-Eden-VIR and Novirin Against the Latent Epstein Barr Virus

Study: Latent EBV Infects Immune Cells in MS; polyDNA Recommends Gene-Eden-VIR and Novirin Against the Latent Epstein Barr Virus

Rochester, NY (PRWEB) May 19, 2014

Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) infection is associated with multiple sclerosis (MS). One recent study found that “Patients with multiple sclerosis (MS) have elevated antibodies against Epstein-Barr virus (EBV).” (See the Journal of Neuroimmunology, from April 16, 2014) (2). Research also shows high levels of latently infected cells in MS patients. In another recent study, “MS patients and controls were examined for their B-cell subsets and during 16 weeks for spontaneous lymphocyte transforming events. MS patients had normal distribution of B-cell subsets, but a significantly higher incidence of B-cell transforming events, which occurred with kinetics similar to controls. The higher incidence suggests an increased frequency of latent EBV-infected B cells in MS. (1).” polyDNA recommends that patients with MS talk to their doctors about Gene-Eden-VIR and Novirin. The formula of these natural antiviral products was designed to help the immune system target the latent Epstein Barr Virus.

Dr. Oz notes that “People with MS have a faulty immune response that causes immune cells to mistakenly attack the protective insulation (myelin) surrounding nerve fibers. When the myelin sheath is stripped it interferes with the transmission of nerve messages throughout the body and brain causing a wide range of neurological problems depending on where the damage occurs.” (See DoctorOz.com, from February 16, 2010) (3). According to the Dr. Oz website, “There are a few things that link the MS to EBV infections (3).” These include the following facts: “Nearly everyone with MS tests positive for EBV, people clear of the virus don’t get the disease, high levels of EBV antibodies precede MS symptoms and flare-ups, and infectious mononucleosis doubles the risk for MS (3).”

What can infected people do against the EBV?

A few antiviral drugs are available that were shown to inhibit EBV replication in cell culture. These drugs include the acyclic nucleoside analogues aciclovir, ganciclovir, penciclovir, and their respective prodrugs valaciclovir, valganciclovir and famciclovir, the acyclic nucleotide analogues cidofovir and adefovir, and the pyrophosphate analogue foscarnet. However, clinical studies have shown that these drugs are mostly ineffective in humans. (See Pharmacology & Pharmacy, from September 2013) (4).

There are, however, some natural antiviral products that were shown to reduce EBV symptoms in two separate post-marketing clinical studies that followed FDA guidelines. These products are Gene-Eden-VIR and Novirin.

Novirin shares the same formula as Gene-Eden-VIR. The difference between the two is that Novirin has higher quality, more expensive ingredients. The Novirin/Gene-Eden-VIR formula was tested in two post-marketing clinical studies published in September 2013 and March 2014, respectively, in the peer reviewed medical journal Pharmacy & Pharmacology (4).

Interested individuals can view the two published studies here, http://cbcd.net/Gene-Eden-VIR-Clinical-Study.php and http://cbcd.net/Gene-Eden-VIR-Decreases-Fatigue-Clinical-Study.php.

Up to 70% of those studied reported a decrease in symptoms associated with EBV infection, and users of the Novirin/Gene-Eden-VIR formula experienced an increase in overall health (4).

Each ingredient of Gene-Eden-VIR and Novirin was chosen through a scientific approach. Scientists scanned thousands of scientific and medical papers published in various medical and scientific journals around the world to identify the highest quality, safest, most effective natural ingredients that target latent viruses.

A second clinical study showed that the Novirin/Gene-Eden-VIR formula decreased physical and mental fatigue. (See Pharmacology & Pharmacy, from March, 2014) (5).

Study: Latent CMV in Sperm May Cause Male Infertility; polyDNA Recommends Gene-Eden-VIR against the Latent Human Cytomegalovirus

Study: Latent CMV in Sperm May Cause Male Infertility; polyDNA Recommends Gene-Eden-VIR against the Latent Human Cytomegalovirus

Rochester, NY (PRWEB) April 03, 2014

The human cytomegalovirus (CMV) may be a cause of male infertility. In fact, “15-20% of infertile subjects are affected by semen infection (1).” Even if a man has no symptoms, he may have a latent infection in his sperm. In addition, this type of infection is associated with poor sperm quality (1). polyDNA therefore recommends that men ask their doctors for a blood test that identifies the existence of a latent infection with CMV. If positive, that individual should then speak to their doctors about Gene-Eden-VIR. This natural antiviral was designed to help the immune system target the latent CMV.

Researchers believe that latent viral infections are an underestimated etiological factor in male infertility (1). In other words, doctors often take the existence of a latent viral infection too lightly. As study authors wrote, “common sexually transmitted viruses are able to colonize semen, and thus, (should be) of major concern for reproductive specialists are (the) herpesviruses (HSV), human cytomegalovirus (CMV), and adeno-associated virus (AAV) (1).”

For example, CMV is able to infect most parts of a man’s sperm. “A recent study on HCMV-infected organotypic cultures identified the presence of viral antigens and viral particles in spermatogonia, spermatocytes, and in spermatids, producing lytic effects.” In other words, the virus began to actively replicate in all stages of sperm development.

Study authors noted that a latent infection with CMV can harm a man’s ability to reproduce, by affecting sperm parameters and function. Additionally, it can be transmitted to both mothers and babies in the uterus, causing potentially life-threatening conditions, especially for newborns (1).

“Several drugs are approved for the treatment of HCMV infections in immunocompromised individuals. These drugs include ganciclovir, its oral prodrug valganciclovir, cidofovir, foscavir, and fomivirsen. However, the use of these drugs in immunocompetent individuals is limited by their toxicity, poor oral bioavailability, modest efficacy, and the development of drug resistance.” (See Pharmacology & Pharmacy, from September 2013) (2). There are also some natural antivirals like Gene-Eden-VIR.

“We recommend that individuals concerned about infertility get tested for the presence of a latent CMV infection. If positive, that person should talk to the doctor about Gene-Eden-VIR.” – Mike Evans, polyDNA

A study published on August 12, 2013 in the peer reviewed, medical journal Pharmacology & Pharmacy, in a special edition on Advances in Antiviral Drugs, showed that Gene-Eden-VIR reduced herpes symptoms. Study authors wrote that, “Individuals infected with the herpes virus… reported a safe decrease in their symptoms following treatment with Gene-Eden-VIR (2).” The study authors also wrote that, “We observed a statistically significant decrease in the severity, duration, and frequency of symptoms (2).”

Research shows that an infection with CMV also causes a feeling of physical and mental fatigue. Since Gene-Eden-VIR is antiviral, a second post-marketing clinical study showed that Gene-Eden-VIR decreases the feeling of physical and mental fatigue. That study was published in March, 2014 in the journal Pharmacology & Pharmacy (3).

Genital Herpes: When Can I Stop Taking Acyclovir? polyDNA Answers Survey Questions and Recommends Gene-Eden-VIR against the Latent HSV-2

Genital Herpes: When Can I Stop Taking Acyclovir? polyDNA Answers Survey Questions and Recommends Gene-Eden-VIR against the Latent HSV-2

Rochester, NY (PRWEB) January 27, 2014

People that take drugs against a genital herpes (HSV-2) infection for a long time, often wonder when they can stop. In its December 2013 survey, polyDNA learned that many individuals wanted to stop taking genital herpes medications such as Acyclovir, Famciclovir, and Valacyclovir. Some doctors allow their patients to stop taking anti-herpes medications after about 2 – 3 years without symptoms.

Dr. Charlotte Grayson, MD said, “Since the frequency of the recurrences decreases over time without suppressive therapy and the treatment is expensive, lifelong therapy is not usually recommended.” In addition, she added that “Once the infection is controlled, some physicians decrease the dose and often stop the drug altogether. Currently, many patients stop suppressive therapy after about two years of treatment.” (See HealthCentral.com, from March 14, 2007) (1).

The most commonly prescribed anti-herpes medication is Acyclovir. “It slows the growth and spread of the herpes virus so that the body can fight off the infection. Acyclovir will not cure herpes, but it can lessen the symptoms of the infection.” (See Drugs.com on Acyclovir) (2).

While some doctors allow their patients to stop taking anti-herpes medications after a few years, the virus stays in the body in a latent state, and can potentially reactivate once medication is stopped. Therefore, polyDNA recommends that individuals take Gene-Eden-VIR while taking anti-herpes medications and after they stop. Gene-Eden-VIR will help their immune system target the latent herpes virus that resides in the body during the time they take the anti-herpes medication and continues to reside in the body after they stop.

In addition, polyDNA points out that, while effective, Acyclovir is considered expensive, and has a number of side effects, including “abdominal or stomach pain, decreased frequency of urination or amount of urine, increased thirst, loss of appetite, nausea or vomiting (and) unusual tiredness or weakness (2).”

Gene-Eden-VIR was designed to be affordable over the long term, and was clinically proven to safely reduce symptoms of a genital herpes infection in a study that followed FDA guidelines.

After hearing some of these facts, survey respondent Barbara L. said, “I’ve been taking Acyclovir for 10 years. I haven’t had an outbreak for a majority of that time. Because of that, my doctor recently told me I could probably stop taking it. That actually makes me upset. I’ve spent a ton of money, and now I find out I could have saved?”

“Individuals must realize that if they stop taking their anti-herpes drugs, the herpes virus is still lurking in their system in a latent state. We recommend that these people take Gene-Eden-VIR, an effective, affordable herpes remedy that was proven to reduce herpes symptoms in a post-marketing clinical study.” – Mike Evans, polyDNA

In a post marketing clinical study published on August 12, 2013 in the medical journal Pharmacology & Pharmacy in a special edition on Advances in Antiviral Drugs, researchers showed that Gene-Eden-VIR is safe and effective (3). Additionally, up to 70% of those studied reported a decrease in viral symptoms, and users experienced an increase in overall health (3).

Each ingredient of Gene-Eden-VIR was chosen through a scientific approach. Scientists scanned thousands of scientific and medical papers published in various medical and scientific journals around the world to identify the safest, most effective natural ingredients that target the latent HSV-2. Disability Rights Organizations Led By Not Dead Yet Issue Open Letter Criticizing Respecting Choices Program for Bias Against Feeding Tubes and Breathing Devices

Disability Rights Organizations Led By Not Dead Yet Issue Open Letter Criticizing Respecting Choices Program for Bias Against Feeding Tubes and Breathing Devices

Rochester, NY (PRWEB) December 20, 2013

Led by Not Dead Yet, eleven national and twenty-three state and local disability organizations, as well as individuals, have sent an open letter to Respecting Choices, a prominent advance care planning program operated by Gundersen Health Systems in LaCrosse, Wisconsin. The letter criticizes two “Fact Sheets” distributed nationally by the program because they discourage people from choosing to use feeding tubes, “BiPAP” breathing devices and ventilators, despite the fact that the alternative is usually death.

The documents, entitled “Tube Feeding: What You Should Know” and “Help With Breathing: What You Should Know”, have been posted with permission on the website of an Ohio hospice. They are sold on the Respecting Choices website for use in advance care planning.

The Gundersen documents express a strong bias against long-term use of feeding tubes, BiPAPs and ventilators, discouraging health care consumers and medical professionals from using these life-sustaining devices except for short-term recovery and not as part of a viable disability lifestyle. The Not Dead Yet letter was signed by twenty-five individuals who have successfully used one or more of these devices for years, and in some cases for decades.

“By their own explicit terms, these advance care planning documents are not only for people who are close to death no matter what they do, but also for people who could live a long time if they choose to use these health care devices,” said Diane Coleman, president and CEO of Not Dead Yet who has used a BiPAP breathing device at night for twelve years.

Cathy Ludlum of Manchester, Connecticut, who uses both a feeding tube and BiPAP, was involved in drafting the letter. “Feeding tubes and breathing devices are portrayed in these so-called fact sheets as uncomfortable and ineffective, especially for those of us with long-term, progressive conditions,” said Ludlum, a leader of Second Thoughts Connecticut. “But I have lived many healthy and happy years with the help of a feeding tube and a BiPAP.” Both Coleman and Ludlum have neuromuscular disabilities.

“Not every technology works for everyone, and people should certainly make their own choices,” Ludlum added. “But choice is only possible when people receive full, accurate, and unbiased information.”

The disability advocates hope that the letter will serve as a first step in a process to resolve the their concerns. They call on the Respecting Choices program to take four steps to address the disability community concerns:

Stop marketing and distributing “Tube Feeding: What You Should Know” and “Help With Breathing: What You Should Know.”
Send a formal notice to all known purchasers and users of these documents directing that they no longer be used due to their misleading nature and offering to refund any related payments received for their purchase.
Issue a press release and post an announcement on the Respecting Choices website about the “recall” of these products due to their misleading, biased and harmful content.
Convene a Task Force to consider other corrective action steps that must be taken to remedy the harm done by these documents. This Task Force should be composed of a majority of individuals who use these technologies, as well as suppliers and professionals with significant knowledge and experience with their long-term use.

National organizations that signed onto the letter include the American Association of People With Disabilities, Association of Programs for Rural Independent Living, Autistic Self Advocacy Network, Disability Rights Center, Disability Rights Education and Defense Fund, Little People of America, National Council on Independent Living, Not Dead Yet, National Disability Rights Network, The Arc of the United States and United Spinal.

Bel Marra Health Reports on Recent Research Reveals Walnuts May Protect Against Heart Disease and Diabetes

Toronto, ON (PRWEB) October 10, 2013

Bel Marra Health, who offers high-quality, specially formulated vitamins and nutritional supplements, reports on a recent study revealing that walnuts could help to improve the health of those suffering from metabolic syndrome and other obesity-related health problems.

As Bel Marra Health reports in its article, (http://www.belmarrahealth.com/healthy-eating-2/walnuts-could-protect-you-from-heart-disease-and-diabetes/) nuts have always been seen as one of the best sources of minerals and fatty acids on the planet. Nuts provide unsaturated fats, which help to reduce cholesterol levels. They are loaded with digestion-friendly fiber, and they contain a good deal of Vitamin E, a vitamin that helps protect against coronary artery disease and other cardiovascular disorders. Nuts truly are some of nature’s most amazing creations, and a recent study published by the Yale-Griffin Prevention Research Center points to another potential life-saving health benefit of these tasty morsels.

The Connecticut-based research center conducted a study among 46 adults between the ages of 30 and 75. All of the participants were overweight with BMIs greater than 25; the men had waist circumferences larger than 40 inches and the women had waists larger than 35 inches. The study group was also at risk of developing metabolic syndrome, a precursor to more serious disorders like cardiovascular disorders and diabetes.

The 46 adults were divided and assigned two different diets: the first group was assigned a diet of their own choosing that included walnuts, while the second group consumed a diet without walnuts. Those that participated in the diet containing walnuts were given no more than 56 grams of walnuts – unroasted and shelled – to consume per day. This group of adults showed a marked improvement in their endothelial function, despite their being overweight or obese. While adding the walnuts to their regular diet didn’t lead to weight loss, it did increase vasodilation in the brachial artery. It also helped to benefit their systolic blood pressure, thereby reducing their risk of cardiovascular disorder.

The lead author of the research team, Dr. David Katz, Director of the Yale-Griffin Prevention Research Center, explained that altering one’s diet completely can be challenging, which is why so many people continue with unhealthy diets to this day. However, adding just one food can be fairly easy, making it less of a challenge than completely altering one’s diet.

With the single addition of walnuts, the participants in the study improved their endothelial function and reduced their risk of heart disease and diabetes. The study reveals that making a few small changes to the diet that involves including highly nutritious food could help to improve the health of those suffering from metabolic syndrome and other obesity-related health problems, such as diabetes and cardiovascular disorders.

The purpose of adding nutrient-rich food to the diet is to satisfy the appetite and improve health, thus making it possible to remove the less nutritious food from the diet for those trying to lose weight. With further research, more appetite-satiating foods like walnuts could be found, which could provide remarkable health benefits to dieters and reduce their risk of health problems. Such a small addition to the diet proves that a few minor food modifications can make a huge difference in the health of those trying to diet and lose weight or maintain a long healthy life.
