CBCD Congratulates Starpharma (SPHRY) on the Development of Its Virus Killing Condom

The CBCD looks forward to seeing a reduction in HPV, HSV, and HIV diagnoses in the Australian public, and to the introduction of these condoms to the American market. However, the CBCD reminds the public that approval of these condoms for American markets by the FDA may take time. Until then, the CBCD recommends two natural, safe and effective, HSV-2 remedies that are backed by clinical studies.

The formula of these natural antiviral products was tested by Hanan Polansky and Edan Itzkovitz from the CBCD in two clinical studies that followed FDA guidelines. The studies showed that the Novirin and Gene-Eden-VIR formula is effective against the herpes simplex virus, and other viruses. The clinical studies were published in the peer reviewed, medical journal Pharmacology & Pharmacy, the first, in a special edition on Advances in Antiviral Drugs. Study authors wrote that, “individuals infected with the HSV … reported a safe decrease in their symptoms following treatment with Gene-Eden-VIR.” (2) The study authors also wrote that, “we observed a statistically significant decrease in the severity, duration, and frequency of symptoms.” (2)

For instance, a meta-analysis of five placebo-controlled and two dose comparison studies evaluated the effect of aciclovir, famciclovir or valaciclovir on symptoms. The meta-analysis showed that oral antiviral therapy decreases the duration and the associated pain of an outbreak by merely one day.” (2). There are also natural antiviral products that studies show to be safe and effective in reducing herpes symptoms. Two of these products are Novirin and Gene-Eden-VIR.

Study: Pain Medications are Mostly Ineffective against Shingles; CBCD Highlights Two Natural Remedies against the Varicella Zoster Virus (VZV)

Patients who develop shingles experience neuropathic pain. “Herpes zoster (HZ), commonly called shingles, is a distinctive syndrome caused by reactivation of varicella zoster virus (VZV). Herpes zoster will happen at any age yet commonly affects the elderly population. How long does Shingles pain last?

Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) infection is associated with multiple sclerosis (MS). MS patients had normal distribution of B-cell subsets, but a significantly higher incidence of B-cell transforming events, which occurred with kinetics similar to controls. These drugs include the acyclic nucleoside analogues aciclovir, ganciclovir, penciclovir, and their respective prodrugs valaciclovir, valganciclovir and famciclovir, the acyclic nucleotide analogues cidofovir and adefovir, and the pyrophosphate analogue foscarnet.
