    *Warning: Somewhat explicit*

This is a brilliant spoken word poem/song by my personal favorite comedian,
Tim Minchin. The lyricism is absolutely ridiculous and the whole thing is
extremely funny, yet some parts bring up oddly provocative points about
    science vs. faith.

If you don’t mind a couple of bad words, take a few minutes and listen to
    this masterpiece.

I feel compelled to post this a couple times a year. Seems apt today.

So the moral of this film is “if you believe your own beliefs, you’re a
mentally-sick idiot and you should be ashamed of yourself”. I use to have
some respect for Tim Minchin, but now, after watching this, I think he is a
    prejudice, arrogant prick!

  • Louise Sherwin-Stark:

    Gotta love +Tim Minchin.

  • Thimmet:

    Tim Minchin is brilliant.

I recently found myself in the situation of discussing with a similar
    person.

I completely forgot about the speech at 7:40 ish, but I almost quoted it
    word by word.

5:38 – 5:45 is one of the best moments, cracks me up every time!

The next time you encounter someone who insists on spouting bullshit about
star signs, psychics, the afterlife, religion, “alternative medicine” and
all that other complete crap… show them this video.
If they still don’t see sense, pull out the straight jacket and shoot them
up with enough tranquilizers to kill a herd of horny bulls!

I failed to introduce myself…but to piggyback on +Benny Bloggo’s intro,
    this about sums me up.

LOL at the homeopathy comments: “Take physics and bin it, water has MEMORY
and whilst its memory of a long lost drop of onion juice seems INFINITE, it
somehow forgets all the poo it’s had in it!”

I’ve dated several slightly (physically) different versions of Storm. They
have one thing in common: They are so fucking spiritual, they need not do
any work, take any responsibility for ANYTHING, and don’t need to give the
tiniest fuck what effect their actions have on others. One of the spiritual
girls I dated was looking for a new angelic healer to open her chakra who
was willing to take her dad’s American Express Card, but could only find
angelic healers who took Visa and Master Card.

  • Kirk Bushell:

    This is absolutely brilliant.

Love love love this song, but still, that last line is why I can’t agree
with his methodology. There’s little point in acting condescending if
there’s no real hope of changing their stance. That’s just being boorish. I
get the frustration, but I actually DO somewhat care that other people have
such nonsensical beliefs, and I’m not going to get them to stop believing
them by just shouting that it’s nonsensical.

I also don’t agree with the fact that our lives are unimportant because of
the invaluable nature of life itself, but that’s neither here nor there.
Either way, an awesome song and I love Tim.
