I think one of the interesting elements here is how modern pop and R&B performers and performances are under great pressure to be extreme in a way that only manifest as outrageous clothes in the 60s and 70s. Today a television performance by a similar act would require masses of shifting lights, multiple camera angles, choreography and a crew of professional dancers augmenting everything. The ante’s gone way up. Unfortunately the same is not necessarily true for the music.
@auaiao9 True enough, one kinda has to live it to fully appreciate it. And believe you me, there’s a lot of new music these days that I can’t stand either. As they say, to each his own.
@Barbowan I appreciate your opinion but at 25 years of age I can understand why you don’t like Disco. I’m 53 and I still like it. You weren’t around back then for it to have a place in your life, and most of the stuff I hear now drives ME “feakin’ nuts”.
@auaiao9
To answer your queries, I believe anyone who has listened to a great deal of music from an era has the right to make judgments, although it still is just my opinion. As you said, not ALL 70’s music sucked, including much of the little guy’s that were smothered by the hottest bands of the decade. Many of them are quite good yes. My comment was more geared towards the “Disco” aspect, for some reason that stuff really drives me freakin’ nuts when I hear it. And lastly, I’m 25.
@The64someone Extremely goofy movie was one the best Disney films ever made. Everytime I hear this song it’s always associated with the memory of goofy workin the dance floor ^_^
@Barbowan Who are you to say music from the 70’s sucks for the most part?? Just because you don’t like this song doesn’t mean the rest of us feel that way. I grew up in the 70’s and this was definitely considered music back then and still is. Tons of good music came from that period. Broaden your appreciation. Pearl Jam and The Beatles didn’t cover EVERY corner of the spectrum. btw how old are you?
@narxstephanie: Oh fuck you man; this is from the 70’s; music from that decade for the most part sucked out of context. Don’t talk to me about KNOWING music unless you’re quoting something legendary, like the Beatles or Pearl Jam. This song isn’t what I’d call MUSIC, although if you want to talk about good stuff, the rendition from Shrek 4. aka. the Pied Piper song, then we’re on the same page; you gotta be pretty badass to be hardcore on a flute. Peace out.
